چکیده

Effluents from dye and dyeing industries constitute serious environmental threat attracting attention. Activated carbon prepared guinea corn husk maize cobs waste materials was used as a precursor to prepare activated carbon. Variable ratios of the constituent ashes ( 1:1, 1:3 3:1) were prepared. The ashed in murfle furnace at 400-500oc for 2.5 h. Acid activation carried out by washing with HCl (1M) after which it characterized using XRF revealed (in variable proportions) presence SiO2, Al2O3 Fe2O3 dominant oxides ashes. Waste water decolourization efficiency adsorbents tested same contact time absorbent dosage. Higher moisture (96.80±0.56), Ash (12.90±0.35), pH (6.3±0.17), Conductivity (208±1.34) Bulk density (12.27±0.61) obtained husk. best clearity batch adsorption experiments 1:1 gave highest equilibrium (Qe) 28.55 compared 12.750 10.900 1;3 3:1 respectively.

Equilibrium and kinetic study for the adsorption of p-nitrophenol from wastewater using olive cake based activated carbon

The present work was carried out to evaluate the removal of p-nitrophenol by adsorption onto olive cake based activated carbon having a BET surface area of 672 m²/g. The batch adsorption experimental results indicated that the equilibrium time for nitrophenol adsorption by olive cake-based activated carbon was 120min. The adsorption data was modeled by equilibrium and kinetic models. The pseudo...

Statistical physics modeling of equilibrium adsorption of cadmium ions onto activated carbon, chitosan and chitosan/activated carbon composite

The adsorption ability of activated carbon, chitosan, and chitosan/activated carbon composite for cadmium separation from aqueous solution was analyzed via statistical physical modeling. The equilibrium data were analyzed by Langmuir, Hill, double layer model, and the multi-layer model with saturation isotherm models. Results showed that the multi-layer model with saturation could well describe...
